Fruit for Zone 3b

Many people inquire about fruit-bearing  trees and shrubs that are hardy in our climate. There have been several new varieties of fruiting shrub showing up in the nurseries lately, such as the Romantic series of cherries produced by the University of Saskatchewan and a line of honeyberry hybrids (‘Haskaps’) that are said to be hardy in our conditions. As I know this is a popular area of interest for some of my customers and friends, see Popular Fruit Varieties (pdf) by Bob Bors at the University of Saskatchewan.
