I have always wanted to live outside the city–far outside, with a few wild acres of my own. Circumstances did not allow for that, so I chose to make a garden instead. That and a battle for ambition lead me to study and earn a General Horticulture Diploma from the University of Guelph as well as a Journeyman’s Certificate in Landscape Gardening from Olds College. More pursuant to this blog (and with my wife and daughter’s help) we developed a full garden with minimal lawn in north Edmonton. Because I was (and remain) a naturalist in my interests and philosophy, and a gardener by training, our garden reflects a laissez-faire style– eclectic, eccentric and unkempt. Sort of like me, only bigger.
